Catherine Baker
Catherine Baker is Lecturer in 20th Century History at the University of Hull and wrote her PhD thesis in 2005-8 on popular music and national identity in Croatia after first getting to know Croatian popular music through Eurovision at the turn of the millennium. Her Eurovision-related publications include articles in Popular Communication and European Journal of International Relations, and a special issue of the journal Contemporary Southeastern Europe. She is also the author of books including Sounds of the Borderland: Popular Music, War and Nationalism in Croatia since 1991 and an introduction to The Yugoslav Wars of the 1990s.
