Its definitely too early to win the Eurovision Song Contest, but after the Jury Show of the first Semi Final, it could be we’ve seen the best scoring chance for some songs pass them by and they are already half way to Tel Aviv airport. Let’s look back over the first seventeen countries looking for points in 2019.

    I’ve always wondered about how the clips for the recaps are chosen. Does the broadcaster decide which section they want beforehand when they send their staging details to the EBU and host broadcaster in March? Is it decided after the first rehearsals? Do the local production team decide?

    There have been so many curious choices over the years. I’ve often thought that one factor for Switzerland doing badly in the televote in 2011 and being forgotten is that the recap clip was from a part of the song where she only sings ‘na na na na na na na…’.

    In general the start time and end time will be decided before the show, and the clips cut out auotmatically during the live show for replay.
