The Eurovision List: The news that’s making waves on Friday Written by on May 18, 2012

Time to round up the stories that have caught our eye in the last twenty four hours of The Eurovision Song Contest. From power and odds, to charts, from on the ground in the press centre and arena rehearsals, to out in the parties and the streets, we are looking for the news – this is your snack sized view of Baku.

Swedens chances killed off

The fanclub desk at the Press Centre has been suffering technical difficulties most of today, affecting the chances of people being able to vote for the fan favourite Sweden in Semi 2.  At last count, the voting looked something like this. Sweden is coming third.

Grannies are cooking on stage

They are some of the hottest favourites at Eurovision 2012, and now they are bringing the heat off the stage and into the press centre.  Buranovskiye Babushki specially prepared a treat for the media in attendance today, cooking us some local delicacies ‘perepechi’, which are the local meat pie from Urmurt.  They are even offering us their special recipe to the media.

All Kinds of Everythings’ Keith Mills prepared a special essay for Irelands national broadcaster , explaining the importance of Eurovision to him and the history of his Eurovision experiences.

Humperdinck has a great chance

Not to destroy the hopes and dreams of the United Kingdom public by earlier publishing a piece tipping Sweden for the win, BBC have interviewed the man himself, The Hump, about his feelings heading into the competition and his chances at return home with the trophy.

It Hurts to be the second choice

And just when The Hump is feeling positive about his chances at the contest, Gigwise have reported that he apparently was not the first choice for representing the United Kingdom.
