ESC Insight Features In Monstagigz’ Best Podcast Of 2023 Written by on November 14, 2023

It’s always nice to be nominated for an award. This year, ESC Insight is up for Monstagigz “Best Podcast Of 2023.” And you can help…

There are a lot of podcasts, and a lot of awards for podcasts. So it’s always nice to be nominated. It’s even nicer to see who else has been nominated. In the grand tradition of inviting everyone in to share our passions, the other nominations for Monstagigz “Best Podcast Of 2023” are…

Second Cherry

Friends of the parish Matt Baker and Monty Moncrieff explore the Eurovision songs that reached the National Finals, but never got the ticket to represent their country at the Song Contest. Which songs should get a second chance for glory? Discussions in depth on the songs we love that may not be as well known as the winners.

Matt and Monty won in 2021 and 2022. If they win it three times in a row they get to keep the trophy forever.

Aussievision

A third Eurovision podcast in the shortlist – which if we extrapolate out to the entire world means the Song Contest lies at the heart of sixty percent of all podcasts. Aussievision has come off a packed year, so before Dale and Mike do the scariest thing possible with a podcast – change format and present things in a slightly different way – there’s a lot of content to thank them for.

Kermode & Mayo’s Take

Movie reviews, a few good Rutles homages, and at least one mention of ‘Silent Running’ every month. How can you not love a podcast that started in early May 2022 just as Turin’s Eurovision came to an end? How can you not love a team who were quite literally able to give up their day job at the BBC to do their own podcast.. a podcast that sounds remarkably (but not legally) close to their old radio show.

In a former life, they quite liked The Story Of Fire Saga, so that’s good enough for us.

A Quiet Night Inside No 9

If you mash-up The Twilight Zone, The League of Gentlemen, and Tales Of The Unexpected, you’ll get Inside No 9, a delightfully British anthology TV show. Like any good TV show, there’s a watch-along podcast as well. That said, Inside No 9 (the TTV show) hasn’t done a Eurovision episode – but this isn’t the fault of Steve and Andy. They can only work with the material Steve and Reece give them.

And they work the material very well.

And now, it’s over to Monstagigz’s Neil Durham to see out the story: “Do you have a favourite podcast of 2023? Our shortlist for Podcast Of The Year and the chance to vote for your favourite is here.”
