Seven bids to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 have been placed on a shortlist by the BBC and the EBU. Following submissions from 20 cities, our destination next year will be one of Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield.
This will be the first time since the 1980 Song Contest that the previous winning country will not host the Contest, although the inclusion and reflection of Ukraine’s victory in Turin 2022 has been stressed at every opportunity.
The next step in the process will see organisers visiting each city that is bidding, as well as examining more detailed proposals to stage the sixty-seventh edition of the Contest.
