1. Technically – it would be nice if the makers of the podcast remember that a podcast should be pleasant to the ears and should not sound like the participants were shouting to each other. It calls fine tuning(more information by Ewan, whose tips and experience should be sought after).
2. No one in the podcast thought that RAI may use hosting this contest as a redemption for the 1991’s contest. Every one who ever watched the 1991’s contest, knows it could go horribly wrong. The approach of RAI so far, suggest they really want to make sure that the current one will bring fresh and better memories and make everyone forget the fiasco that was 1991. I actually hope they will succeed. For RAI it will definitely be considered as a success.
Given the size of the TV audience on May 14th, how many people would a redemptive storyline actually impact? A tiny fraction. None of the staff of the 1991 Contest are going to be involved in the 2022 production, and I suspect their focus will be on looking to the future, not a show that was aired 31 years ago. After all, Switzerland did not have to redeem itself when hosting in 1998 because it lost the votes 32 years ago.
First of all- I am not sure what you mean with your last sentence about Switzerland. The didn’t hosted in 1998 and their last hosting duties was in 1989.
Eurovision Again made sure that more people know that contest. In the podcast, the participants have mentioned that in social media people are hoping for a repeat of 1991, so they can have enough material for memes. On that note, a smooth operation, will create less memes. And if they are memes, they might be coming from a different sources.
I don’t think this is a public narrative. I don’t even think the organisation has it in the back of their mind. But if everyone will talk about how good it was organised, it will be a sort of a welcome side effect.
