April is a curious month for Eurovision fans. It looks like nothing happens, the songs are all chosen, and we won’t be keeping score until May. But there are so many activities that can affect the chances of victory. As well as rehearsing there are promotional tours, preview concerts, and media appearances. There are interviews and competitions to get people listening and sharing. And there’s planning for two weeks in Austria capital city, which is an adventure in itself.
On top of that, we have news from JESC, some budgeting numbers from Vienna, and ESC Insight’s coverage plans for the rest of April and in to May. On with the podcast!
Eurovision Insight Podcast: We’re All Rehearsing!
Everyone is rehearsing, there’s a mix of previews and promotional tours, and we have details on JESC and budgets from Vienna. Let’s round up the latest news from the Eurovision Song Contest, with music from Ella Eyre.
ESC Insight will be continuing our coverage of Eurovision 2015 until we find our winner for the year. Keep up to date with the Insight Podcasts through the podcast’s dedicated RSS feed or subscribe to ESC Insight in the iTunes Store and get the show automatically downloaded.
G’day Ewan 🙂
I didn’t know can speake Gaelic :).
Just something to note, for the upcoming dates and party’s on the road to Eurovision. There is a Eurovision club night being held in Sydney, on the same night as the big party in Melbourne 🙂
I hope you have a great day 🙂
And just something to think about as ANZAC Day is just around the corner:
“Lest we forget”
I think that assuming that we’re all going to Sweden next year has taken a big knock with the loss of their biggest plus (the light show animation). I wasn’t a huge fan of Heroes anyway but the staging was superb. Without that, Måns Zelmerlöw’s chances of a win have been scuppered as I don’t think his vocals and the lyrics are that strong…
I suppose his background team have a month to sort something else out!
I don’t think Måns can win because average songs ( with great stage show don’t get me wrong) don’t tend to win, you forget there is a jury involved and a lot of juries will recognise the song is average and rank it lower, i personally think it will be a bit like Sweden 2011 and do really well in tele voting but then getting 9th or so in juries meaning it will retain Sweden’s top 3 status but won’t be bringing Eurovision to Sweden next year.
BTW Ewan i this post comment I’m posting right now is about your next JBJ so bait off the boil but important nevertheless. I thought id say this just incase you have Ireland in your next JBJ podcast that the Irish song on Eurovision.tv is not the ESC version, https://clyp.it/3ebbvabf, this is the ESC version where a lot of the flaws have been finalised i think like the low key chorus and low key climax. but from my twitter messages you probably know this :P. Thanks for reading 🙂
So sorry for spamming here but an important question just popped into my head while I relistened to the podcast, its about the ticket situation i am flying out to Bratislava ( then getting a train to Vienna) on the day of the jury rehearsal of the 1st semi final i was wonder am I sorted in the ticket department as in will my tickets arrive to my house in time for the trip?
Catahl, you need to speak to OEticket, not ESC Insight 😉
TO be honest it’s just the man – the concept will stay I think, with some new graphics.
