While you were all listening to our daily podcasts from the Press Centre and around Copenhagen, a number of radio stations around the world, from the United Kingdom and the United States, to New Zealand, Singapore, and Taiwan, were airing a six-episode syndicated package of radio shows from the ESC Insight team (and a big ‘thank you!‘ to everyone who has heard these show and got in touch).
The bonus episode went out today, looking back at this year’s Contest, and giving everyone a nice energetic kick into the weekend. So, the thinking goes, it’s probably good enough for everyone’s weekend.
After a rough and ready edit of the live broadcast, here is the ‘still not got a good name yet’ Eurovision Hour for the weekend!
The Eurovision Hour: Friday May 16
Hosted by Ewan Spence (ESC Insight), from the Shore Radio studios in Leith.
Just to be clear, we’re not sending this show down the podcast feed, you’ll need to download it directly or listen to it in your browser. As for the podcast you can make sure you don’t miss an episode over the summer off-season by subscribing to the RSS feed dedicated to the podcasts. iTunes users can find us in the iTunes Store and get the show automatically downloaded to your computer.
What was in the package or was it from the podcasts you already put on Itunes?
The 6 part package consisted of six one hour episodes (with space for adverts, stings and branding) that previewed all the songs at the Contest, with some National Final seonc place songs thrown in as well. It’s unlikely they’ll be available directly from Insight.
Darn. I guess I am just a bit excited at the moment because there’s so much I want to listen to…
Perfect start to the day, thanks! And were those new guitars at the start, or just the ones you use for the radio?
Peter, the later. It’s an edit of the ’50th Celeberation Theme’ and it’s the one I use for broadcast radio. The podcast remains with Inspector Callaghan’s variant.
Tornero(Romanian 2006)-What a great song it was then and still is.That was when we all thought Romania is going to win within 5 years.
The remixes for Spain and UK do what a good remix do.Make the song better.
The more I think about it, the more I’m convinced that Conchita changing of words, during her reprise, was carefully planed and secretly rehearsed. Doesn’t change the impact of it, but the way she so confidently sings it, doesn’t seem like a last minute decision.
And another thing:
Montenegro – Thank you,who ever he is< for keeping the song in the original language. The English version makes it a very meh song
Muchas I lovethe Englilsh version, I agree that the romance of the song is enhanced by stayi in the native language.
