The Spotters Guide To The Eurovision Grand Final Written by on May 18, 2013

It’s nearly time for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final, and there’s just time to note down a few highlights for you to watch out for in this evening’s edition of the greatest entertainment show on the planet.

The Olympic Inspired Parade of Nations

We’ve had the parade of contestants at the last few Junior Eurovision shows. and it’s a delight to see it make a return to the Adult version of the contest after many years.

Bonnie Tyler’s Rapturous Ascent

It’s a the safe track four from the Rocks and Honey album, but the last refrain of the United KIngdom entry will lift the spirits of Tyler, and hopefully the voting public.

Ukraine’s Giant

‘My Gravity’ is a fantastic song, and while the video features a number of Unicorns, they won’t be appearing on stage. Instead we have a Giant. An honest to goodness Giant. All seven foot eight and a half inches of American.

Sarah Dawn Finer’s Interval Act

Okay you have to sit through all of the Swedish humour from Petra Mede, but it will be worth it. Expect a tear-jerking rendition of ‘The Winner Takes It All’ just before voting begins. In the meantime, here’s SDF’s Melodifestivalen number, ‘Moving On’ to tide you over.

Honourable mentions also go to Cascada’s staircase, Azerbaijan’s ‘Man in a Box’, its a good year for eyebrows (Belgium, Lithuania, Armenia, and Malta), excessive use of the pyro curtain…

…and we also think there’s going to be a rather interesting moment at the end of Sarah Dawn Finer’s song in the interval act – take a chance on me and don’t turn over.
