Another spin around the Eurovision world to catch up with the news and happenings in the last 24 hours.
Opening The Village
Eurovision winner (and looser) Charlotte Perelli opened up the Eurovision Village in Malmö today with Sweden’s 2013 performer Robin Stjernberg. Hopefully Charlotte’s ‘Take Me To Your Heaven’ will inspire Robin, rather than ‘Hero’.
ESC Today has the full story, with pictures.
Switching Back To Macedonian
Singing throughout the first rehearsal in English, Macedonia have switched their performance back to Macedonian for Lozano, while Esma remains in Romany. Eurovison.tv has the official word.
Thursday Bloody Thursday
Black Sabbath’s Toni Iommi will be cheering on his composition Lonely Planet when it sings in the second semi-final from his home in Birmingham:
Thankful for all the charity work Tony has done in their country, where he has spearheaded the rebuilding of a music school destroyed by an earthquake, they wondered if he had any spare songs.
And this week Armenian rocker Gor Sujyan and his band Dorians will belt out Lonely Planet in the semi-final of the contest. If it fends off stiff competition, the song will make it through to Saturday’s final.
More at the Birmingham Mail.
They Can’t Stop The Lys
Good to see that Lys Assia is out of hospital after an episode of pneumonia. Her plan is still to make it to Malmo to arrive in time for the first semi-final and hopefully stay for all three shows. Eurovisionary (and others) carry the good news.
