And Now We Have Three Songs Written by on December 17, 2012

The 2013 playlist now has three entries, after the big decisions this weekend in the world of the Eurovision Song Contest.

Weekend Results

Switzerland held their ‘Decision 2013’ show on Saturday at the Bodensee Arena. Nine performers battled their way for the right to represent the first Eurovision Song Contest Winner in Malmo. Heilsarmee (The Salvation Army) took a convincing victory on the 100% public vote with ‘You and Me‘, but the surprise has to be the strong second place showing for French group Carrousel.

  • You And Me, by Heilsarmee (37.54% of the vote)
  • J’avais Rendez-vous, by Carrousel (17.26%)
  • Forever And A Day, by Jesse Ritch (11.75%)

After two and a half hours of radio, the public in Belgium have chosen ‘Love Kills‘ to be their song for Europe. 17 year old Roberto Bellarosa was the internal artist selection who presented three songs over the marathon selection show.

Lithuania held their second semi-final and have confirmed the four qualifiers from the first semi-final:

  • War In The Wardrobe, by Gerai Gerai & Miss Sheep.
  • I Fall In Love, by Ieva Zasimauskaitė & Gabrielius Vagelis.
  • Happy and Free, by Božolė.
  • Something, by Andrius Pojavis.

Four more acts will go through from the second semi-final, along with two wild card selections from the jury to the National Final this weekend.

Coming Up This Week…

  • Thursday December 20th: Lithuania, National Final.
  • Thursday December 20th: Albania, Festivali i Këngës Semi Final.
  • Friday December 21st: Albania, Festivali i Këngës Semi Final.
  • Saturday December 22nd: Albania, Festivali i Këngës Final.
  • Sunday December 23rd: Ukraine, National Final.

That will take us to at least six confirmed songs for Eurovision 2013 before Christmas… and we should have artist news from Spain as well!
