I would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody at escinsight for your absolutely spot on work during the entire Baku debacle. In fact, I shall miss the daily podcasts much more than the contest itself. From the jukebox juries to the alternative commentaries to, yes, Terry Vision. I will look forward to seeing you’all in Stockholm. Or Gothenborg, or Westeraas, or whatever our dear neighbors choose to hold the evenemang (as they say hinsidans).

Is there going to be a debrief show like last year – really interested in the panels views on the voting – and what happened to Norway!!

  3. Ewan Spence says:

I think we’ll have to debrief in text for the near future, a lot of the team had to leg it out of baku with a flight 4 hours after the winners press conference!

  4. Henning says:

A Review Show would be great, There were a lot suprising results and it will be intersting to see if there will be only a “Big Four” in Stockholm. Personaly I can’t see that Britains going to take part next year. Although the discussions I have heard and read so far sound exactly like the discussions we had here in Germany in 2009 (20th from 25 starters). “It’s all political” “we don’t have a chance against the bloc vote”. Sounds very familiar.

  5. Seán says:

I don’t think a UK withdrawal is likely, mainly due to the importance of the UK in Eurovision from a financial perspective. But politics may overrule everything. In the event of the UK pulling out, it would leave the door open to Alex Salmond and the SNP to call for Scotland to have it’s own “independent” entry, which the EBU say they are eligible for. At this moment in time London will try to avoid such a scenario at all costs.

  6. Ewan Spence says:

No need to look at the UK national budget, the BBC’s Saturday night budget answers the question rather simply. Eurovision is one of the best alue for money Saturday nights in the entire year.

  7. Ewan Spence says:

The UK will be in Sweden, I’ll put a tenner on it. Name your charity!

  8. Simon says:

Anybody know if/when we’ll learn the details of the jury/televoting split for 2012? I have a feeling it’ll be even more interesting than last year’s.

  9. Conor says:

Belated thanks to Ewan and the rest of the team for the most thoughtful, thought provoking but fun coverage of this year’s contest. Another great year for escinsight! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  10. Ewan Spence says:

Much appreciated Conor. We’re looking over the coverage we did do to decide what to change and what to keep for next year. All thoughts welcome!
