The ESC Insight team puts the spotlight on the rest of the Eurovision online world.

Those of you with smart eyes and clear ears might have picked up on two ESC Insight projects that are starting to gain traction from all the Eurovision fans out there who continue to drop by.

First up is our database of other Eurovision websites. We originally posted a list of just over one hundred sites back in January, and it’s proved to be one of our most popular pages. We’ve added more sites to the page, as well as a simple form so you can suggest sites that we have missed (or if you launch a new site and would like to be listed).

You’ll find the new web directory here, or under the “Tour the Site” menu bar at the top of the site. There are now over 120 links in the directory, but I doubt we’ve got everyone, it would be great to have your help to find the missing sites!

Over the summer we’ve also been working on a new site that will complement ESC Insight. To go along with our in-depth coverage here, we wanted to have something that was fast-moving, and captured the Eurovision headlines as they happened. But with so many other sites out there doing that already, and doing it well, why duplicate the work?

We haven’t. Eurovision Buzz (www.escbuzz.com) promises to answer the question “What’s the buzz around Eurovision right now?” by giving you a single page that pulls in the headlines from all the major Eurovision sites around the web. One click, and you’ll be taken to the full story on that site. There’s so much coverage out there, especially as we get closer to the Contest, that it might be easy to miss news – hopefully with Buzz that will never happen again.

There might be some new writers and contributors lined up for the 2011/12 season, but that can wait for another day. Part of the ethos of the Contest is to bring together the countries of Europe. With both the directory and ESC Buzz, we’re doing our bit to bring the wonderful wide web world of the Eurovision Song Contest just that little bit closer.

Enjoy!
