Eurovision Insight Podcast: No tickets, an interview and lots of songs Written by on December 14, 2010 | 3 Comments

And we have our first Song for Europe in 2011! As Switzerland votes to send Anna Rossinelli to Düsseldorf, our version of that ‘exclusive’ interview with her from backstage at the National Final is just one of many parts in the weekly news podcast from ESC Insight.

Lots going on this week, from the problems that many had in booking tickets for the Grand Final, to new countries going on the provisional entries list, lots of submission deadlines for the various national finals, and the annual tradition of one song being disqualified from Melodifestivalen.

Eurovision Insight Podcast: No tickets, one interview and lots of songs

Switzerland chooses their song, why no ticketing system could have coped on Sunday, National submission deadlines, the potential return of Malcolm Lincoln and the horror of Jedward. With music from J.C. Chasez.

Jedward are amazing , okay, so shut up.

  2. Ewan Spence says:

I think it’s fair to say that like any musical act, Jedward will have their fans. But to do well at Eurovision they’re going to need broad appeal, an original song, an almost perfect performance singing wise, and not too overpowering stage elements.

On ‘PR’ power they could qualify from Ireland to go to Düsseldorf, but once there I don’t think the have the repertoire, charisma or ability to do well for Ireland.

  3. Sharleen says:

If Jedward go to Dusseldorf (and with the weight of public approval for the twins in Ireland I would say they will) and they then fail for the reasons Ewan is stating, I would imagine that there would be pressure from the public to withdraw from Eurovision altogether in 2012.

People in Europe do not know who Jedward are, and we can’t expect that they will vote for them en masse.
