The performers have drawn out which half of Saturday’s Grand Final they will sing in:
First Half:
Armenia, Norway, Portugal, Switzerland, The Netherlands, and Ukraine (joining France, Germany, Italy, and Spain).
Second Half:
Greece, Iceland, Lithuania, and Moldova (joining the United Kingdom).
We say goodbye from the Contest, but not from our playlists, to Albania, Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Latvia, and Slovenia.
Reactions, analysis, and more to follow in the daily podcast and here on escinsight.com.
Switzerland has just landed itself slot number 2 in the final.
And if the EBU really don’t want to go to Kiev they will consider putting Ukraine in that spot, but they will never do that, wouldn’t they?
Thanks Shai!
I am not sure we are going with the slow song in slot 2…it seems like this year the head of contest that slots all the entries in the running order has chosen to open with a fun song and build on it with another fun song…I can’t imagine them going big and have it crash down so quickly in energy with something like Switzerland or Portugal…I can see some version of Norway, Armenia and France being the first 2 slots pending Semi 2 qualifiers…things are really looking good for UK…if Sweden and/or Poland gets Semi 1–then they will have a walk in the second half
Right they don’t have too many up-tempo songs at the 1st half.
To my count 3 maybe 3.5 songs.
Even if all the up-tempo songs from the 2nd semi will qualify (which won’t happen), not all of them will het 1st half draw.
Putting 2 up-tempo on 1st and 2nd, will mean a long section of slow to mid-tempo section, which will send the audience to sleep.
Usually the slow songs are set as fillers between the up-tempo songs, but this year they may need to use the up-tempo songs as something to wake up the audience.
And I really don’t see them opening with France or Spain, as they are kind of (semi)favourites.
