On Saturday 21st November at Sofia’s Arena Armeec the winner of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015 was Malta. Malta took the crown with the upbeat entry ‘Not my Soul’ sung by thirteen year old Destiny Chukunyere, written by herself alongside Elton Zarb and Matthew Mercieca.
Voting was conducted by a jury and televote from each country as well as a special Kids Jury featuring one young person from each participating country.
A two horse race ended with Malta winning with 185 points. In second place 9 points behind was Armenia and in third place was Slovenia on 112 points.
Congratulations go to Bulgaria for a great show this year and to Malta for two wins in the last three years. Time will tell if Malta are selected to host the Junior Eurovision again on the sunshine island.
In the Press Conference after Destiny’s victory Chief Executive of Maltese broadcaster PBS said “we would love to host”, however the broadcaster needs to discuss this with the EBU and the Maltese government.
