“My name will be forever associated with Eurovision… that’s mind-blowing.”
Selected through an open submission process, this year’s entry for the United Kingdom is Electro Velvet. Following in the grand tradition of Coco, Bucks Fizz, and (errr) Ryder, Alex Larke and Bianca Nicholas carry the hopes and dreams of a nation on their unknown shoulders.
Let’s try to alter that balance now in our next In-depth Insight as Ewan sits down with the duet that brings the Charleston to Eurovision, the Rolling Clones to Austria, and the echoes of The Voice…
Eurovision Insight Podcast: In-Depth With Electro Velvet, the United Kingdom’s 2015 Entry
Alex Larke and Bianca Nicholas, better known to Eurovision fans as Electro Velvet, will represent the United Kingdom at the 2015 Song Contest with ‘Still In Love With You’. In another In-Depth Insight, Ewan Spence meets them ahead of the trip to Vienna to talk about their careers, the song, and finishing last.
In-Depth Insights are long-form interviews that allow us to find out much more the people who contribute to the Eurovision Song Contest, and we will be running a number of these podcast episodes in the run up to to the Grand Final on May 23rd!
Don’t miss an episode of the ESC Insight Podcasts by subscribing to the RSS feed dedicated to the podcasts. iTunes users can find us in the iTunes Store and get the show automatically downloaded to your computer. We’ll be here for the rest of the new Eurovision season, with podcasts, news, articles, newsletters, and more.
PS: It really was Bucks Fizz…
I’ve never seen Swedens Mr. Eurovision, Christer Bjorkmann, getting as upset as he did when remarking on this entry in the SVT “Before Eurovision” show hosted by Sarah Dawn Finer. That the country that has given the world the best pop music ever written (I’m paraphrasing here) offers this piece of crap is a scandal, nothing less.
