SVT have confirmed the time and place of the 58th Eurovision Song Contest. It’s going to be on Saturday May 18th, 2013, at the 15,500 seater Malmo Arena.
Their press release on Sunday morning may have arrived as many Eurovision fans were sleeping in, but confirmation that Malmo had won the contest over Stockholm woke everyone up and the various booking websites were logged on to grab a hotel room. And as everyone realised that Malmo has been booked out (or at least many hotels block-booked for the official hotels to be released at some point early next year), eyes turned to Copenhagen and the plethora of hotel rooms just ten minutes away (along with a very busy international airport).
The ESC Insight team reckon we’re sorted for beds now, so we can start going over our notes and think about the coverage leading up to and during the 2013 Contest.
Of course the Eurovision Circus has been here before. So it’s over to Terry to remind us of “the pleasure dome of Malmo, sin city of Sweden…”
