It must be a struggle to talk about these first rehearsals when you yourself admit that they are technical, not the full package and lots of things could change…

Not that it was apparent here but it does annoy me when some fans and pundits defend a poor 1st rehearsal by ‘one of their favourites’ by using the ‘only a technical run through’ argument and then proceed to use another poor one to beat a different artist over the head with, when it is obvious that they never liked or rated that song anyway…

  2. Robyn says:

Belgium has taken a risk with Blanche and it isn’t quite paying off. It sounds strange to say this, but Blanche seems to have a bit in common with Bianca from Electro Velvet. She was a good singer with a nice voice, but she lacked stage presence and was daunted by performing on the big Eurovision stage.

When a country internally selects an up-and-coming singer, there is going to be a risk that they won’t have the experience needed to deliver a big Eurovision-quality performance. There’s a certain amount that can be learned, but it helps when the performer doesn’t have to consciously remember how to be a rock star and can just do it naturally and put their energy elsewhere.
