    G’day Ewan.

The one good point I got from the podcast (Sweden winning all the marbles does not count), you played an extended version of the guitars.

The bad point is, the UK needs to take a radical rethink of the contest and the 1st step should be to sack Guy Freeman on Monday morning.

That’s my 2 cents. I hope everyone has a safe trip home.

  2. Cathal says:

As bad as BBC are RTE are even worse. Atleast BBC had a rethink, Ireland just keep the same format…

  3. Shai says:

Talking about Israel. Not only top 10 in the final, but 3rd!!!in its semi.Getting votes from every single country in their semi, including 10 en 12 points.Who would have believe it.

  4. Frederic says:

You are completely right about France, they’ve got all reasons to be angry at the EBU and as a French person I really am. Now about the contribution itself, I believe France’s problem exactly is the same as the BBC. France Télévisions are picking entries leading the public to think they are Eurovision entries when these maybe could have been, decades ago. I have been writing about how “N’oubliez pas” represented “frenchness” and the old stereotyped images people have abroad of the country rather than what our modern musical scene really is nowadays and that’s how you never get above the 20th place.

  5. Lana says:

Well,Sweden was great. But Russian song is also a hit..really liked it.And Armenia-very cool.Italian voices sounded really good.So..first three places were deserved.Well, ufortunately was disappointed by Britain…they truly should change smth.

  6. Esceire says:

Another stat Sam can sink her teeth into is the fact that this is the first time since the semi finals were introduced in 2004 that our ESC winner did NOT win the tele vote.

  7. Seán says:

  9. togravus says:

Thanks a lot for providing great podcasts for another year!

  10. Hans-Henning says:

OK, one insignificant detail you didn’t mentioned, who came in at 27th? The NDR is avoiding it by giving Austria and Germany both 26th place. By the rules you mentioned in the first daily podcast that take effect in case of a tiebreak, and if I did understand them correctly, it must be Germany? They run later than Austria, right?

Thanks for the entertaining Podcasts all year round (and for making me look smart)

  11. Ewan Spence says:

Tiebreakers at the top go on countries voted, then most 12s, 10s, etc and then a tiebreaker is ‘earliest in the running order is last’

Clause 1.4: in the very unlikely case that after applying the above procedure in a Semi-Final there is still a tie concerning the qualifying ranks and non-qualifying ranks, the tie shall be resolved by giving precedence to the country which was earlier in the running order for the Semi- Final in question. The same procedure shall be used to resolve any other ties.
