Let the Eurovison Song Contest Begin! Written by on September 1, 2012

It’s September 1st 2012 – and any song that debuts in public from today is eligible for Malmö!

The Grand Final of the 58th Eurovision Song Contest might be nine months or so away (strictly speaking it’s 259 days), but today is the day that we can declare the holidays are over, and the season has begun. September 1st is the cut-off date for any entries into Eurovision… if a song aired in public before today tries to enter the Song Contest, it would be disqualified. Starting today and going forwards, there’s a chance you’ll hear the upcoming winning song.

There may be other regulations at the National Final levels, so do check if you are submitting a song,

As EscXtra points out, Switzerland is first out the starting block – you can upload your entry for ‘Die Grosse Entscheidungsshow 2013’ with an eye on what is currently the first National Final on December 15th, and Finland’s submission process for Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK) opens on Monday.

Summing it up? Eurovision 2013 is go!
