The long summer of Eurovision is nearly over – August really is the desert of the Song Contest, with everyone coming down from the last Contest, the occassional OGAE meeting to look forward to, and a big playlist of absolutely nothing new to listen to.
Still, September 1st is nearly here, and when that day arrives we can start listening to new songs, safe in the knowledge that they could be eligible for Malmo 2013! Until then, let’s have some fun on the podcast.
Eurovision Insight Podcast: Still in Hibernation
It feels a bit like the world of Eurovision is in hibernation, with only little scraps of news to fill up the podcast. September 1st is approaching though, so get ready to wake up! With music from Engelbert Humperdinck, or was it Kermit the Frog?

Nicely done, although the comparison does LWSYF no favours; “Rainbow Connection” is a songwriting classic.
So what happened to Eurovision being something that lives and breathes year round then? =P
I see what you did there! Although you still live and breath when hibernating – it’s just that everything slows up considerably. Negotiations for JESC and ESC entries will be going on people are getting songs ready to enter National Finals, it’s just that very little of that is available publicly until next month.
It does amuse me how some fans refuse to leave the Eurovision bubble over the summer. There’s great music out there longer than 2:57! 😉
Agreed, Ben, can I suggest a little folk band I’ve just found at the Edinburgh Festival, http://www.thesorries.co.uk ?
Cheers, Ewan, but not really my cup of tea. I prefer music that’s more lush, clean, layered, melodic, emotional and atmospheric. This is a bit raw and backgroundish for me.
See what you think of this, it’s also folk, but with a little bit more production behind it. Stunning voice.

Seeing her live in London on Sept. 30th! Can’t wait!
