The Eurovision List: The news that’s making waves on Sunday Written by on May 20, 2012

Time to round up the stories that have caught our eye in the last twenty four hours of The Eurovision Song Contest. From power and odds, to charts, from on the ground in the press centre and arena rehearsals, to out in the parties and the streets, we are looking for the news – this is your snack sized view of Baku.

The odds are (just) in their favour

In keeping with a tradition now almost a week old, we examine the chances of Sweden to win the 2012 contest.  ESCStats examines the opportunity in five different categories – the countrys history, the songs chart success, its odds on betting sites, the fanclub votes, judgement on the fan reaction in Baku and in the stadium.  Check out the results here.

Red carpetbloggers

Friend to all the Eurovision stars, Monty, was out painting the town red on the red carpet of the Eurovision Opening Party last night.  He tells us all the goss and jumps the barriers to get all the photos.

ESC Insight – international stars

Following last nights all-star party to welcome in the Eurovision season proper, Bulgarian television aired a piece today featuring yours truly.   You didn’t hear it from us, but apparently our faces are more attractive than those featured on Sofis’ dress.

Anke is everywhere

Our favourite host from last years proceedings, Anke, is making a welcome return to our Eurovision screens next week.  According to German news, she will be reading the results at the final.  No word yet on whether this will feature an interpretive dance, impromptu song or sand

Hump given the hump by BBC

As part of their upcoming special ‘Eurovisions dirty little secret’, BBC cameramen accosted Englebert Humperdinck leaving a recording studio trying to have him wear a slogan tshirt that alluded to some of the controversial discussions of Azerbaijans’ freedom of speech.  Needless to say, for a contest that should be primarily about the music, many are not pleased.
