Eurovision Insight Podcast: Grand Final Commentary Written by on May 14, 2011

It all comes down to this. One night, three minutes, live, to Europe and the world. The eyes of 125 million TV viewers on them as they sing in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

And for many of them, the alternative commentary of myself is another part of the annual ritual. So here, in advance of the live broadcast, is the commentary track for the 56th Contest.

Hopefully you know the drill by now – because of technical and legal reasons syncing up with the live broadcast without the help of RTE’s Radio team mean you need to do a little bit of work, so grab the MP3, cue it up in your audio player of choice, be it portable on headphones, or on your PC. Feel free to start listening whenever you want, but starting as the show starts is fine.

I’ll remind you in the show, but when you hear a beep, you pause the track, watch the song performance, then start up the track again. Don’t stop for adverts or cutaways, just for the music.

The only potential gotcha is that with no opening ceremony or show, there’s no obvious starting point, so start the track, pause when I tell you and start up again when the time lapse video of the transformation of the football pitch to the Eurovision Stadium start.

Enjoy! And you can still follow me real time on Twitter for updates direct from Dusseldorf and the Contest.
