We’re into the rehearsals for the second semi-final – or at least the first run through from each country. There’s slim pickings on what was “good” from the first nine countries, but the pane is all agreed on one thing. Sweden have a lot of ground to make up after technical problems plagued Eric Saade’s Popular. Can the panel think they’ll manage?
And what is it about the night life around Eurovision that makes it so attractive to stay out 15 nights in a row, even if you damage your voice and your singing potential?

Fantastic Podcast as always!
You were talking about Sweden, well they are getting an extra rehearsal on Friday according Ola! Which should help them! https://www.eurovisionfamily.tv/user/Ola+Melzig/blog/?id=86632
We should just hope that if in the final Sweden are some distance from France in the running order! So that the glass doesn’t break before he’s even on!
Good to hear an American voice to know I’m not the only one who loves to talk Eurovision.
It looked to me from watching the videos online that Eric Saade wasn’t giving 100% in his rehearsal. He didn’t seem to care as much as he did in the Melodifestivalen performances.
For Hungary (I know this is going back a day), I’d be interested to see what the viewers at home will be seeing. The vocals sounded pretty good to me; not flawless like the recording but far better than the song announcement press conference back in Hungary. Camera work can make a boring performance good. But it seems to me that she’s used up her six people on stage with a bunch of backing singers that stand around and do nothing.
I’m a bit worried that Cyprus is demanding too much from their female vocalist. Swinging something around one’s head is not conducive to vocal control, and it really matters for her parts.
It’s hard to tell much from the video – they have yet to work on camera placement as well – but her outfit doesn’t appear convincing either from what is shown of it.
The routine and backdrop for the main stage looks great though.
