Eurovision Insight Podcast: Eurovision Castaways, with John Egan Written by on October 13, 2017 | 2 Comments

Île de Bezençon… an island where all you can bring is eight Eurovision songs and a luxury, if you can get them over the border. Floating over the horizon on his lilo from New Zealand, John Egan is the island’s next visitor on Eurovision Castaways, ESC Insight’s newest podcast series. Add the RSS Feed to your favourite podcast application, or click here to follow us in iTunes and keep up to date with Eurovision as the new season unfolds.

Ellie Chalkley is back behind the customs desk to examine the record selections of ESC Insight’s John Egan. We also muse on unsuitable automobile accessories, low resolution audio streams and the exact circumstances under which Elitsa and Stoyan could come back to Eurovision.

The ESC Insight crew are off to Île de Bezençon for the summer with their favourite Eurovision related songs and stories.  This week it’s the turn of John Egan to have his records examined, reminisce about the early days of internet fandom and do a surprising amount of singing.

John also covers the more data-driven side of Song Contest analysis at his personal website 58points.com.

Keep listening to the ESC Insight podcast as the new season gathers pace for more Eurovision news, fun, and chat. You’ll find the show in iTunes, and a direct RSS feed is also available. We also have a regular email newsletter which you can sign up to here.

  1. Martin says:

Another interesting selection there – that was a blooming noisy jetty John was walking on though…

Great descriptions of why those songs were up there and a huge mixture of genres.

    Anymore for anymore, Ellie?

  2. Hi Martin – I’ll check out the sound levels on the, ahem, jetty. I might need to move the mic a little closer to the shore 😉

At the moment, I’m planning on running Castaways until National Final season starts and the news podcast goes back to the weekly format. But if you’re enjoying the show, I’ll chase down another batch of Eurofans and take them to the island. My aim for ‘series 2’ would be to make the interviewees more diverse and international.
