In typical tradition of ESC Insight, you won’t find the usual blogging of song reviews, or news updates online.  But that doesn’t mean we don’t love reading others. Keeping one eye on the rehearsals/press conferences, there is need as media to read the most recent gossip and news.

On a daily basis from Dusseldorf, ESC Insight will check out our compatriots coverage of the world of Eurovision, try to see whats happening from others perspectives, and bring your attention to some of the best.

Russia’s Alex Sparrow to win

He may not end up winning Eurovision per se, but he is certainly the favourite to win hottest Eurovision man of the year.  Alexey took quite a liking to his own likeness via the rather fashionable mini-pop t-shirts of Ben Morris doing the rounds.  All kinds of Everything writer Andrew Main offered a swap, resulting in a shirtless Alexey and a few hundred screams of joy from the attending press.

Its all a bunch of Sophos

The hottest ticket in the Eurovision world last night was the Georgian Party.  For those armed with accreditation and an invite, the delegation put on a great show filled with food, fun and the famous Georgian red wine.  The highlight of the evening was the performances of the Sophos; Georgias representatives from 2007, 2010 and 2011.

Zdob si Zdub do Dusseldorf

Its not just the press who like covering the Eurovision event; sometimes the artists like to present their own view of the staging of the worlds largest song contest.  Moldova’s 2005 and now 2011 entrants have been blogging about their experiences of promoting, preparing and performing at Eurovision.  From their blog, it appears the boys were out and about yesterday exploring the city itself, doing a spot of shopping, exploring and eating icecream.

All bets are on

Midway through the 2nd rehearsals of competitors, odds are starting to fluctuate.  France and the United Kingdom are still leading the betting, but other placings are changing more times than Belarus lets off pyros.  At the moment, the ESC Insight team think that Ireland and Russia is worth a flutter, and outsider Iceland is worth checking out.  Keep informed with the odds by checking out the likes of .
