In typical tradition of ESC Insight, you won’t find the usual blogging of song reviews, or news updates online. But that doesn’t mean we don’t love reading others. Keeping one eye on the rehearsals/press conferences, there is need as media to read the most recent gossip and news.
On a daily basis from Dusseldorf, ESC Insight will check out our compatriots coverage of the world of Eurovision, try to see whats happening from others perspectives, and bring your attention to some of the best.
Here’s what the online world had to say about Eurovision on Wednesday 4 May, 2011.
Qualifiers from those in the know
Every year a fan desk is set up in the press centre to although those with accreditation to vote for it as they see it. The OGAE fan/press vote is updated on a daily basis to aim to predict the qualifiers of each semi. ESC Kaz being the OGAE representatives from the Rest of the World are keeping a daily eye on the tally.
See how it looks for the semis so far…
Diva-like behaviour
For reasons that can only be speculated, Israels’ Dana International cancelled her first press conference following her rehearsal at the arena today. All private interview requests were also cancelled. Obviously it is only the performance that counts in terms of the public vote, but Oikotimes speculate otherwise…
The Swedish wrap-up
Yesterdays hot topic of discussion was most certainly the rehearsal of Sweden. It was the moment that everyone in the press centre stood close to the screen to listen to the vocals and watched intently for the ‘moment’ – the shattering glass, which simply did not happen. Whether Eric is resting his voice, is injured, or its just simply underprepared; who knows. The rumours didn’t stop and we are sure there are more to come.
Here is ESC Nations take on the Swedish events of yesterday.
The Eurovision work never ends
Whilst many press and fans do complain about the long days, we tend to forget that for some, the work never ends. All year round. Sietse Bakker, Event Supervisor for Eurovision, is already talking 2012 plans – and we don’t even know who the winner of 2011 is yet and where we are going!
